Exam 2024 Question 19

Hello,

In Question 19 (Exam 2024), statement 3 says: “The cameras are ill-calibrated.” This is marked as false, as if this wasn't a possible failure reason for a wrong/inaccurate 3D image reconstruction.

I am confused about this, since, to me, ill-calibrated cameras (incorrect intrinsics/extrinsics) could lead to incorrect silhouette projection and hence an incorrect or inaccurate visual hull reconstruction.

Could you clarify why this is not considered a valid limitation in this question?

Thank you.

Hi,

You are right. Poor camera calibration can also lead to inaccurate reconstruction, so the third option should be considered correct.

Best,
