Following today's class, here is some info for you:
- on week 7 (i.e. on Tuesday, Oct 28), I will first finish properly the parts that I left out today, and then tell you about the cutoff phenomenon without going into detailed computations, but rather trying to give you an overall picture, related to card shuffling. There will no new problem set this week, but during the exercise session, you are very welcome to come and ask questions about all the exercises we did, as well as the ones from the former midterms already published on Moodle (whose solutions are going to be published towards the end of the holiday week).
- about the midterm, you find now detailed info in week 8 on Moodle, which I reproduce here:
Midterm exam on Tuesday, 8:15-10:15 AM, in rooms BS 260 (letters A to K) and CM 1105 (letters L to Z).
Content: everything seen until week 7 (included).
Allowed material: one recto-verso handwritten A4 page (but stylet+ipad is also fine). Apart from that, this is a closed book
exam. No electronic device allowed, except a simple calculator (of the type TI-30 eco RS or similar).
