The Human Language Technology (HLT) course presents methods for accessing information enclosed in large text collections. While the focus is on neural language models, their evolution and relationship to statistical or symbolic models are also presented. The methods introduced in this course enable users to access to textual information across three types of barriers: the quantity barrier (large repositories), the cross-lingual barrier (different languages), and the subjective barrier (opinions and interactions).
