Dear Students,
a couple of notes for FDS this week:
1. Don't forget to upload your solutions to Homework 5 by tomorrow morning, 10am, on Moodle, as usual.
2. Tomorrow, in lecture, we will first finish the exponential families: I-projections and more.
3. We will then briefly go over Sections 3.1-3.3 in preparation for:
4. Signal Representations: Fourier and Hilbert, Chapter 9 (which we will definitely not finish tomorrow).
5. In the final half hour of tomorrow's lecture, 14:30-15:00, we will do together a curious and useful example, namely, the fact that all circulant matrices are diagonalized by the Fourier matrix. (This is problem 9.1 in the lecture notes PDF, and also Problem 1 on Homework 6, which will be posted shortly.)
6. Homework 6 will be due already next week, on Tuesday, December 2. (Homework 7 will again span two weeks, just like the majority of our homework sets.)
Best regards, Michael Gastpar.
