Dear INLP students,
this week (week 4) it's my turn to lecture. This message is a reminder and an explanation on how I do proceed on my side.
I'll also do "flipped
classroom" teaching as Martin started to do, which means that, if you really want to benefit from what
I'll be doing in class, you should have watched the lecture video ("04 - Words, tokens, n-grams and Language models") BEFORE
coming to the class. I'll explain you in more details the way I will
proceed, but this is the least I expect from you prior to the class.
Notice
also that I propose not to publish the review slides before the class (the "[review slides]" link on our website is a dead-link for now),
so as to improve your participation and keep a few "surprise effects",
which are better for memorizing.
But that link will be active and point to the solutions slides (of
the review) as soon as the review part of the course is over (around 9:05 if I'm be late).
I'm, of course, open to discuss this way of proceeding with the students that do come, if they find it inappropriate.
Moreover, for those who want to take notes while participating, here comes (see attachment below) a preliminary version of my slides.
See you on Wednesday!
