This course examines the intersection of international economic relations and geopolitical conflict. We discuss trade networks, financial sanctions, and strategic alliances as instruments of power in an era of economic warfare. Through historical case studies and current events, students gain insight into how states “weaponize” interdependence to pursue national interests. The learning approach is interactive and interdisciplinary, as students engage with economic history, international relations theory, and policy analysis, culminating in a final case study project announced from the outset. Assessment is through continuous evaluation (no final exam), including a mid-semester quiz and a final project.
