This course focuses on goal-directed design and interaction design, two subjects treated in depth in the Cooper book (see reference). To practice these two methods, we propose a design challenge, which is to be carried out by a team of three students. This challenge is further divided into mini-projects evenly spaced throughout the semester. Each mini-project is corrected and comments will be given around one week after the submission date. To assess students’ conceptual knowledge and to enhance the understanding of design principles, a set of 5 graded homework (done in class) will be given out, spaced out in the beginning of the semester. Only three of them will be actually graded.
